WP 1 Project Management and Coordination
WP1 will coordinate the actions of participants and monitor the progress of the project to ensure that all project goals are achieved. The objectives of this work package cover the identification, monitoring, and mitigation of project risks by performing an effective risk management, management of the data generated within the project, financial and administrative management, provision of reliable interface to the EC services and lastly, high quality of project outcomes.
WP2 Renewable fuel generation and compatibility with s-GT
WP2 is concerned with the analysis of the renewable fuel value chain for proposed energy system, towards integrated interchangeable renewable fuel pathways for high pressure GT production. Further objectives include the synthesis process for small scale and decentralized production of renewable CH3OH, the review of regulatory frameworks and EU policies for renewable fuels, storage, and integrated system operations, and lastly, the review of conversion processes for renewable fuels.
WP3 Fundamentals of zero-emission high-pressure combustion
The objectives of WP3 include the collection of high-pressure data regarding the flame and combustion characteristics of the selected renewable fuels, the delivery of open access, tabularized information related to ignition and mixing in supercritical fluids, the development of computational tools tuned to the supercritical combustion requirements and the investigation and analysis of methanol and hydrogen combustion in supercritical fluids, in laboratory scale test-rig configurations. Lastly, WP3 will produce benchmark outcomes of different computational approaches and models to evaluate tool and experimental data validity and replicability potential.
Wp4 System prototyping and integration
WP4 will provide guidelines for designing and engineering turbomachinery for closed loop supercritical cycles and proof of concept at a small-scale s-CO2 turbo-compressor. Among the objectives of WP2 are also the development of machine learning algorithms and tools, the delivery of an open access technology roadmap of integrated systems and lastly, the modelling of the integrated HERMES energy system and balances.
WP5 Techno-economic, sustainability, social and policy evaluation
The objectives of WP5 are firstly to define and evaluate Key Performance Indicators for integrated energy assessment and then to describe and perform a technological feasibility assessment of the integrated system.
WP6 Exploitation, dissemination, and communication
WP6 will deal with the dissemination of the project. The foreseen objectives are to increase the flow of information and ensure effective communication of the project’s results among research and industrial actors, to identify the exploitable results of the project’s various components and technologies, and to explore business models and business opportunities.
